Carbon markets

A report by a government working group on carbon markets was recently published and can be read herePDF (in Icelandic).
A few points from the report that we would like to highlight:
- Pending units from certified projects like ours are immediately valid in full in companies’ carbon accounting.
- The report recommends that domestic buyers purchase units from domestic projects first, before buying from abroad. In our view, this is simply “common sense”.
- Units should be registered in a database held by a third party, such as the Carbon Registry: Álfabrekka on the Carbon Registry
The findings of the report are fully in line with our project, which is very gratifying – it is almost as if parts of the report were written with it in mind.
